The third edition of Oman’s youth training initiative, centered on electric vehicle technology and sustainable transport, has successfully concluded. Known as the “Electric Vehicle Experts” (EV-Pro) programme, this session spanned from July 19 to August 27 and involved 35 young participants from various universities and colleges throughout Oman.
Throughout the programme, participants gained hands-on training in several key areas, including electric vehicle technologies, the infrastructure needed for charging, planning for network implementation, and aspects of vehicle maintenance and operation. Additionally, the programme delved into the economic advantages of electric vehicles and their capability to curb greenhouse gas emissions.
A series of workshops were also conducted, focusing on critical environmental challenges and the principles of sustainability. The sessions emphasized the alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, offering participants the chance to engage in activities that encouraged the development of practical solutions tailored to Oman’s local environmental needs.
This training programme is a part of Oman’s larger goal of advancing sustainable transportation solutions and aligns with the country’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. By equipping the youth with essential skills and knowledge, Oman is fostering a new generation of experts ready to contribute to a more sustainable future.
