Oman and Pakistan have taken a significant step towards strengthening their bilateral relations by signing a visa exemption agreement and four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation in key sectors. The agreements, signed in Islamabad at the Prime Minister’s Office, were witnessed by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during the official visit of Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

The visa exemption agreement is designed to facilitate travel for holders of diplomatic, special, service, and official passports between the two countries, providing ease of movement for eligible officials. This initiative is expected to enhance diplomatic interactions and foster closer ties.

The four MoUs focus on a range of collaborative efforts, including telecommunications, information technology, radio and television broadcasting, and the exchange of news and information. Additionally, there is a specific agreement on collaboration between Oman’s National Records and Archives Authority and Pakistan’s National Archives. These agreements are intended to strengthen institutional ties and improve coordination between government agencies while facilitating the exchange of technical expertise and information.

Representing Oman, Al Busaidi signed the agreements, with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar signing on behalf of Pakistan. The two parties also signed the minutes of the eighth session of their Joint Ministerial Committee, reinforcing their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and expanding partnerships across sectors of mutual interest.

This development marks a notable progress in Oman-Pakistan relations, highlighting both countries’ dedication to developing partnerships in areas that promise mutual benefits and fostering long-term collaboration.
