Oman and India have underscored their dedication to enhancing their strategic alliance. During a meeting in Muscat on Friday, Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar engaged in discussions centered around key areas such as trade, investment, energy, logistics, emerging technologies, and regional maritime security.
The ministers took the opportunity to reflect on the deep-rooted ties that exist between Oman and India, deliberating on avenues to bolster bilateral cooperation further. A prominent focus was placed on fostering stronger business collaborations, promoting substantial investments, and generating new economic opportunities that would benefit both nations.
In addition to economic discussions, the meeting also addressed significant regional and international issues, notably the security of maritime navigation through the critical Strait of Hormuz. The dialogue extended to the repercussions of regional tensions on international trade, energy supplies, and the global supply chains that depend on these.
Both Oman and India highlighted the necessity of ongoing coordination and diplomatic engagement to uphold regional stability. They stressed the importance of encouraging dialogue among all relevant parties, aiming to de-escalate tensions in alignment with international law, and ensuring the security of vital international shipping lanes.
